Tampa Bay Needs To Bring Back Brayden Point

Although Tampa Bay had a disappointing end to their season but they saw a career high for a number of players. One of those players was the 22-year-old centre Brayden Point.

Point is a small player at 5’10”, 166 lbs but he’s got amazing talent for such a young kid. This season, Point played in 79 regular season games with 41 goals and 51 assists (92 points) averaging 18:55 on the ice per game. He had one goal in Tampa’s 4 playoff games.

Point has done exceptional with the Lighting in his 3 seasons, totally to 229 regular season games with 91 goals and 107 assists for 198 points. He has a +49 and an 18:38 average time on the ice.

Now that Point has gone through his entry level contract, he’s up on the market as an RFA. And the Lightning need to pick him back up.

He’s so young and has got an amazing amount of potential under the surface. Tampa is going to come back with a vengeance next season after such a depressing end, Point is going to be one of the players that’s going to have something to prove.

One problem is that Tampa Bay has $5.57 million left in cap space. They don’t have the funds to give him a large amount but it can still be done. And for Tampa and their future of being just nearly good enough, they’ll be needing Brayden.
