NHLers Will Be Allowed To Play In 2022 Olympics

Oh baby, oh mamma, we’re back.

Today, the NHL and IIHF announced that NHL players will once again be allowed to play at the Olympic games. I am so excited for this one.

Starting with the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing we’ll see hundreds of NHLers represent their country in hopes for that sweet, sweet Gold. It’s been a few years since any NHL players have been allowed to play in these games and it is going to be so sweet to see them again. As an American I am very excited for the US men’s team to be back in action. We have been blessed with so much USA women’s hockey and it just feels right to bring back the elite men’s team too. Ben Pope tweeted out who from the Hawks might play for their home country’s teams and it is *chef’s kiss*.

I’m not even thinking about who is gonna win the Gold, I’m just excited to see these teams play together again. In my mind, the US, Sweden, and Canada are going to be the teams to watch. There’s so many talented players that can fit onto each roster, the hockey playing itself is bound to be good. I mean look at those US and Canadian players just from the Hawks, that’s a good foundation. Add in MacKinnon, Crosby, McDavid, Barzal, Dach (perhaps) — all for Canada. Give me the likes of Matthews, Eichel, Pavelski, Boeser for the US. And who can forget the Swedes — Landeskog, Headman, Backstrom, Pettersson — no matter who you root for it’s going to be phenomenal to watch.

We still have a while till the official rosters get dropped but it will be fun to ponder who could be selected. You can check out NHL players from each country here if you wanna just look at the lists and let your mind run wild. I know I will. Now to close out this jolly good news, TJ Oshie babe.
