Yung Beezer is staying in Philly for a while.
Joel Farabee, aka Yung Beezer in the rap game, has signed a 6-year extension with the Philadelphia Flyers that kicks in next season. The 21-year-old forward has done well in his first 2 pro seasons. 107 regular season games played, 59 points (28G 31A) while averaging 15:05 per game. He has averaged a 52.2% Corsi For and during some of the Flyers’ worst times, he was their shining baby boy still scoring goals and making things happen. He doesn’t have too much experience in the playoffs though thanks to the mid-season woes of Flyers. So far he has played in 12 playoff games with just 5 points (3G 2A) while averaging 14:29 minutes per game.
Overall, those are awesome numbers for a kid Farabee’s age. Last season was great for him personally. Of those 28 career goals, he score 20 in the 52 games he played last year. He saw his time on ice jump from 14:06 in 2019/2020 to 16:01 in 2020/21. He had some good power play time, got a bit more responsible with the puck. All in all, a great season at just 20/21-years-old. He still has one more year on his ELC with a $1,425,000 AAV. Next year his shiney new contract will kick in and he’ll have a $5,000,000 AAV and cap hit with some signing bonuses mixed in. Here is the full breakdown:
I’m not mad in the slightest about this extension and obviously neither is Joel. He said that he wants to stick around in Philly for the rest of his career and I sincerely hope he does. He’s still a young player who is going to grow into himself more and more with experience and time but so far I like what I see. I think with time he’ll shape up into a pillar for the Flyer’s game. I’m happy for him and I cannot wait to hear his debut album.
