Four more NHL players have announced that they will be opting out of this playoff return. Yesterday, Travis Hamonic was the first player to really step up and say that he’s sitting this one out. Flash forward to today, Sven Baertschi of the Canucks, Mike Green of the Oilers, Steven Kampfer of the Bruins, and Karl Alzner of the Canadiens have said that they will also be staying home.
Technically, Roman Polak of the Stars already said screw this, I’m not coming back but he hasn’t given the official statement of being out yet. I talked in depth about that here if you want to know more.
One again, no judgment here. They have every right to sit out if they’re not comfortable and I wish them all the best. Players have until Monday to inform the league that they’re opting out so I expect us to have even more by then.
