Pettersson Is Starting To Heat Up

Stand back everybody, Elias Pettersson is on a tear. The young Swede has had some troubles in the early season. He had a while where it didn’t seem like things were clicking for him. Recently, he’s been heating up. Since February 8th, Petey has put up 13 goals and 16 assists, 29 points in 23 games. That is way more than his total of 24 points (11G 13A) in the 46 games before that. With this recent gold strike, he has propelled himself up to 24 goals and 29 assists for 53 points in 69 (nice) games.

Pettersson is an incredible player when he is at this level. He has never gotten more than 66 points in a season but if he keeps at this pace he can easily break that. In 3 of his last 5 games, he scored 2 goals. I love to see him play well because he has struggled so much recently. He knows how good he is, what a great shot he has but sometimes it just isn’t there. But I don’t think there is anything to fear. I think Petey is back. He’s rackin’ in assists, scoring goals, and having fun out there. The Canucks just beat the Golden Knights, who are 7 points ahead of them in the standings, in a 5-1 game after losing to them in OT three days ago. The season still has a little way to go but teams are clinching their playoff tickets. It’s still go time for a team like the Canucks who could get lucky and maybe see the playoffs. They’re not dead in the water yet, gotta still keep fighting.
