Brandon Hagel. What a MAN!
If Hagel had an assist I would have called this one a Hagel Hatty. The kid puts up a hat trick, one goal in every period too, and immediately dives into a fight, pumps up the crowd as he skates off the ice. Hagel was the one to start the scoring with the first goal just 7:34 into the first period.
The Devils quickly followed up with two goals of their own but fear not. Patrick Kane started the 2nd with 2 power-play goals 10 minutes apart. Then the Hawks drew another penalty and Hagel scored his second goal of the night on the resulting power play.
Jesper Bratt added one for the Devils so the 2nd period finished up 4-3 with the Hawks in the lead.
The third period is where shit got wild. The Devils tied things up 8:38 into the period. Kirby Dach got things cooking and scored his 8th of the season, first in a while, 14:04 into the period. Ryan Carpenter added another goal just a few seconds later. Bratt came back with another to make things interesting.
Two and a half minutes left in the game, the Devils pulled their goalie. Patty Kane swoops in and clinches his 10th career hat trick. Great for Kaner but the excitement was not done yet.
Just a few seconds left, Hagel goes in for his 3rd goal and gets tripped by PK Subban. Hagel gets the goal, flies into the net, and who else but Kirby Dach goes flying at Subban and starts roughing him. Hagel steps in and says “hey kid, I got this” and starts fighting PK. They both get thrown but Hagel, who just scored cellys his hat trick with a fight and an awesome pump up to the crowd as he goes off the ice.
Hawks win that one 8-5 but oh boy what an ending. I am in dire need of a Hagel jersey, this guy is everything you want in a player. He’s got sick hands, would throw down when needed, and he is just buzzing around out there.
