Matthew Tkachuk just knows how to chuck knucks and score goals. Tonight in the Flames 5-1 win over the Florida Panthers, Tkachuk scored this nasty goal just 47 seconds into the 3rd period:
Somehow he just knows where to angle his stick to get the perfect shot off. That was Tkachuck’s 2nd point of the night, and he ended with 3 points, 3 shots on goal in 14:39 of ice time. He wasn’t the only Flame with multiple points tonight. Johnny Gaudreau had 4 points, all assists, in 16 minutes of ice time. He was incredible out there tonight, per usual for Gaudreau. Lest we not forget Mr. Sean Monahan‘s two-goal contribution.
He wrapped this win up for the Flames. Jacob Markstrom killed it as well, stopped 28 of 29 shots on net.
The Flames have gone .500 since the new year, they don’t win or lose in one-goal games either. They’ve won or lost by 4 or 3 goals since their first game of 2022 when they beat the Hawks 5-1. When they’re hot they burn like… well… a flame, but once their confidence gets shaken, forget about it. Maybe beating the top team in the league will give them a confidence boost they need to go on a little tear. As of now, they’re sitting at 5th in the Pacific with an 18-11-6 record and they’ll be facing their arch-nemeses the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night. The Battle of Alberta never disappoints so I bet I’ll be back here blogging about some insane goal or fight that goes down that night.
