THE VICTORS ARE HEADING TO THE FROZEN FOUR!
With a 7-4 win over Quinnipiac, the University of Michigan’s men’s hockey team is headed to the NCAA’s Frozen Four tournament for a chance at the NCAA title.
Michigan kept a strong lead over Quinnipiac for most of the game. By the end of the second period, Michigan had a 4-0 lead with goals from Nolan Moyle, Jimmy Lambert, Thomas Bordeleau, and Garrett Van Wyhe (the ’97 Legend). The third period got spicy hot with some goals. Quinnipiac came back and scored 3 goals in 6 minutes to make things close with a 3-4 score. But, nevertheless Michigan persisted. Michael Pastujov scored at the 16:23 mark to widen Michigan’s lead. Then Nolan Moyle (his second fo the game might I add) and Brendan Brisson jumped on the goal train and pushed this game to 7-3. Quinnipiac went out with their heads held high though, scoring one final goal in the last seconds to get the final score to 7-4.
Erik Portillo stopped 26 of 30 shots on net, he was incredible per usual.
Here are the highlights wrapped in one for you:
Another solid win for the boys in white, they need that as they’re going to face #3 Denver in the first game of the Frozen Four. Denver is 29-9-1 on the season, Michigan has not faced Denver this season. I think Michigan will prevail but it will be a nail bitter. The game is set for Thursday, April 7th so we’ll have to wait for a while but this team will be preparing I’m sure.
