The Colorado Avalanche had a tough stretch of games last week. The team lost 5 games in a row (0-4-1), only scoring 7 goals and giving up 14. In that time, the team lost Phillipp Grubauer (goalie) and captain Gabe Landeskog to injury.
In last night’s game, things were shaping up to be the same. The Avalanche were down 2-3 against Nashville, 5 minutes into the 2nd period. Then something amazing happened.
The Avalanche scored 6 goals in 8 minutes to take the lead. The team had goals from Ryan Graves, Andre Burakovsky, Matthew Nieto (shorthanded), Matt Calvert, and 2 goals from Joonas Donskoi in the 2nd.
Nashville would only pick up one more goal before Joonas Donskoi finished the Hatty and the Avs won 9-4. It was the rallying victory they needed to get their head out of that dark funk.
A funny thing to note is that the 3rd Nashville goal, the goal before the Avalanche scored 6 in 8 minutes, came from ex-Av Matt Duchene. How ironic.
The Avs have been alight this season and it’s going to just keep getting better now that they are out of this funk. I think the puppies will help too!
