In the words of Lin-Manuel Miranda, there’s nothing like summer in the city.
Chicago during the summer really hits different and because of COVID last year, we missed out on one of my all-time favorite things about summer. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a gremlin who hates the summer and the sun but during the summer in Chicago the city is so lively. There are people out and about, baseball is in full swing, the river is glowing like a precious gem — how could you not love it? And with missing out on all that last year, not gonna lie, it made me real sad. So now that things are reopening, it gave me a bit of hope about life going back to normal. However, nothing has given me more hope at life going back to normal than this weekend.
Wrigley field. National Landmark. Full Capacity as the Cubs sweep the St. Louis Cardinals. Please just listen to that beautiful stadium hum as Craig Kimbrel ended the game.
We. Are. So. Back.
The city is back, the Cubs are back, CUP SNAKES ARE BACK. We are so fuckin back. The summer is just starting to heat up and with Chicago buzzin like she used to, life is only going to get better from here.
