In all honestly, I’m surprised that it took 52 games for this to happen. The Carolina Hurricanes and the Nashville Predators game has been postponed this evening due to COVID. Pierre LeBrun tweeted about an hour ago saying this but the NHL just dropped it’s official statement.
This was bound to happen. We saw the exact thing happen with the MLB, with the NFL, with college sports, even the Dallas Stars as they’re missing their first few games. There was no way we were getting through this season unscathed, especially with no bubble. Pierre said that Carolina is the ones with COVID problems and they’re scheduled to play on the 21st, 23rd, and 26th. I imagine that these games will be postponed as well as they try and control the outbreak.
There are 7 other NHL games tonight but it still is pretty scary that this one is out because of COVID. Hopefully everyone is okay and will be healthy soon.
