One year ago today I was working in a grocery store stocking shelves when the news broke that the Chicago Blackhawks had fired longtime coach Joel Quenneville.
Is it weird to make a trade for the guy who is first cousin, once removed from the coach you fired after bringing you 3 Stanley Cups? No? Okay, proceed.
Today, Stan Bowman, Blackhawks GM, told told the press that he "expects the Blackhawks to continue to be active in the trade market over the next couple weeks."
This has been a game changing week for the Chicago Blackhawks. For starters the team went 0-3-0 in the games from October 31st until November 6th, a truly devastating road trip that brought back flashbacks of last season. The other monumental move has been the firing of Head Coach Joel Quinneville for Jeremy Colliton, a 33-year-old coach coming up from the Rockford IceHogs.
The first game of the 2017-2018 season, it seemed like this season was going to be amazing for the Chicago Blackhawks! Beating the defending Stanley Cup Champions, the Pittsburgh Penguins, 10-1 in the opening game of the season made fans feel as if the Dynasty was going to live on.. Sadly, that thought was short lived.
