Colorado Is One Win Away From The Stanley Cup Finals

The Colorado Avalanche are one win away from the Stanley Cup Final. Tonight, the Avs took Game 3 against the Edmonton Oilers with a 4-2 final score. The Avalanche may have one but they suffered a massive loss with Nazem Kadri now having to sit the rest of the series after taking a hit from Evander Kane in the early 1st period.

Kadri has been a man on fire all playoffs and it sucks to see him now out with injury. He had 14 points (6G 8A) in 13 playoff games. He has been a pillar for the Avalanche but now they have someone to win this last game for. At least it’s not a done-for-the-season kinda injury. They already lost Sammy G and Darcy Kuemper earlier in the playoffs, losing Naz for the rest of the season would have stung.

There was of course a win for the Avalanche tonight and they now hold a 3-0 series lead against the Oilers. Val Nichushkin put up two goals, one in the last first to tie things up and the second in the early second period to seal the Avalanche’s lead.

The Oilers did get one back so JT Compher had to swoop in fresh out of the box and score to get the lead back.

Mikko Rantanen scored an additional empty netter to seal the deal. The Avs played incredible in their first away game against the Oilers. They were gritty from start to finish, just kept pucks on net and that gave them a lot of momentum to keep their lead. Pavel Francouz stopped 27 of the 29 shots he faced in the game, he has stepped up big time as we all knew he would. The Avs just have to win the next one to punch their ticket to a Stanley Cup Final and I think they can do it. They’re in complete control of this series and all they need is one. It’ll be their second sweep of the playoffs too should they do it. This team just doesn’t quit and I don’t think they’ll lose momentum now. game 4 is Monday night in Edmonton and I can’t wait to see how it goes.
