Oettinger Helps Stars Steal Game 2 Win

The Stars have tied their series with the Flames after another low-scoring thriller in Calgary. Let’s take a look at the Stars won:

The Stars started things off by getting their first goal of the playoffs. Joe Pavelski redirected a Jason Robertson shot perfectly behind Jacob Markstrom.

Their first period was a massive improvement over most of their play last game. Despite it being a penalty-ridden 20 minutes, the Stars did outshoot the Flames 9 to 6.

They took that tension into the second period where another few penalties lay ahead. Both teams were warmed up by now, the Flames ended up outshooting the Stars 11 to 7 but there were no goals scored in the second. The goaltenders really stole the show. Jake Oettinger from the Dallas Stars stopped all those 11 Flames shots and showed exactly why the Stars have massive faith in him.

Markstrom did well on the other side of the ice, seeing as none of the Stars could get past him.

Into the third period, Jake Oettinger continued the show. He stopped an additional 12 shots in this period, a lot of them came very, very close.

The Stars held their lead valiantly through the third period. When Markstrom was pulled from the net, Mike Raffl answered with the ensuring 2nd goal on the empty net. The Stars pulled it out and won Game 2, 2-0, a massive feat for them. They will be heading back to Dallas for the next games. Dallas plays pretty well at home, especially if they have the lead after the first period. I think they’ll need to do the same things in Game 3. Get scoring early and help out Oettinger. They’ve tied up this series and they can’t slow down just yer. Game 3 will be Saturday night and I’m excited to see how Oettinger will wow us next.
