It’s a lovely Saturday night, why not ruin it? There’s no hockey tonight and sure I can talk your ear off about Auston Matthews or Connor McDavid but no, we’re gonna talk about the traumatic video of our youth that shaped up into the human beings we are today.
A couple weeks back, seven of my friends came over to hang out in our garage after a night of drinking at the bar. My eldest brother, Jake who is 9 years our senior, came out to hang out with us as we kept drinking. That turned into watching the strangest videos from our youth on the TV for everyone to enjoy (enjoy is the wrong word). One of those videos that was pulled from the recesses of my memories was “Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared”. You remember the first time you’ve ever seen it, you remember the trauma of these seemingly innocent videos just warping your mind, let’s relive it::
This might have been what kick-started my ongoing existential crisis. This video came out 10 years ago, when I was 12, and it haunts me every single day of my life. That being said, as you can imagine, my 30-year-old brother promptly said “what the fuck do you have us watching?” after it finished. He still hates it every time I bring it up. However, that is the only correct response to watching this video. So on this lovely night, please remind yourself of “Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared”, it’ll change your life.
