Jason Robertson Crushes Another Milestone In Stars’ Win Over Vegas

Jason Robertson is a 40-goal scorer. Suck on that one, haters.

The 22-year-old started this incredibly important game with 38 goals in 71 games. Both times the Stars were down, he picked them back up. The Golden Knights took a 1-0 lead out of the first, Robertson made it his goal to get them back in it into the second. He scored his 39th goal at the 13:31 minute mark of the third.

The thrill was a little short-lived as the Golden Knights regained the lead in the dying seconds of the second as they were on a powerplay. No need to fear though, Robo is HERE! The kid swooped in and tied things once more with that beautiful 40th goal just 3:13 into the period:

That puts Robertson in a special place in Stars history. He’s only the fourth Star to score 40 after Mike Modano, Jamie Benn, and Tyler Seguin. Robertson is now at 40 goals and 37 assists for 75 points in 71 games this season, he’s currently the Stars’ leading goal scorer. He’s shaping up to be a big part of this team’s future success.

Back to the game: Of course in true Dallas Stars fashion, life cannot be simple. That was the last goal of regulation for either team so we pushed onto OT. Then, no one could get the job done despite some close chances so into a shootout we go. I’ve been a Stars fan for years but was somehow shocked when we had to continue onto a shootout. It took until the 13th shooter, Miro the Hero Heiskanen, for the Stars to pull out this win.

Also, that’s the third 13 I’ve mentioned in this article. Robertson’s first goal was scored in the 13th minute, his second was at 3:13 into the third period, and it took until Miro Heiskanen, the 13th shooter, for the Stars to win the shootout. Weird O_o

The entire 2017 draft class really stole the show. Miro Heiskanen played 27:46 and scored the GWG in the shootout. Then you had Jason Robertson’s spectacular performance (See Above For More). And last but not least, Jake Oettinger, the 23-year-old goalie, did phenomenal in net. He stopped 33 of 35 shots on net, he saved their asses from defeat countless times.

An incredibly important win that puts the Stars one point away from clinching a playoff spot and they have a chance to get that point tomorrow night against the Arizona Coyotes. With the aforementioned “forgetting the Stars make stressful games 30x more stressful” thing I got going on, I am going into this game with full optimism they come out with the win and clinch that spot. The last time these two played one another, the Coyotes won 3-1. But Dallas is just the better team. They’re 5-4-1 in the last 10 and they just need to pull out a win to make this happen. Jason Robertson has been obviously buzzing lately so I bet he’ll be a big part of this team finally clinching their playoff spot tomorrow night.
