Ryan Getzlaf has played in his final NHL game. One-time Cup champ, 17-year year NHL veteran, and he closes his career with an assist, 3 shots on goal, and 21:14 in ice time.
Before those final 21 minutes, Getzlaf got a nice ceremony with his friends and family on the ice. This is the Ducks’ final home game of the season so Getzlaf is going out with the hometown crowd cheering his name. His wife and kids, even his Hall of Famer buddy Teemu Selanne joined them with a special ride:
In his final game, as I mentioned, Getzlaf collected an assist on Adam Henrique’s 19th goal of the season. He does a perfect no-look pass to Henrique and the puck gets buried home. That was also the last goal the Ducks’ scored so he got to go out celebrating to that goal horn one last time:
In his career, Getzlaf played 1,157 NHL games with 1,019 points – 282 goals and 737 assists. He was a massive part of the Ducks franchise from his first lap around the ice in 2005. He gave his all and that’s something to be proud of.
