Matthew Tkachuk is havin’ a night!
The 24-year-old winger scored his 40th goal of the season in the second period of the Flames vs Stars game tonight. And that’s not Tkachuk’s only milestone tonight. His goal was also his 100th point of the season.
This is the first time in his career that Tkachuk has scored 100 points in a season. He had 34 goals and 77 points in an 80-game season back in 2018-19 before slowing down a bit in the COVID seasons. But now he’s back. The kid works his bag off in every game, he deserves this. He’s the first Flame since 2011 to have 40 goals but he’s not alone in the 100-point club. His buddy Johnny Gaudreau also has over 100 points. Gaudreau has 109 points, 38 goals and 71 assists. I’m sure Gaudreau and Elias Lindholm (who has 39 goals) will be joining Matthew Tkachuk at the 40-goal mark very soon.
The Flames are staying hot into the last stretch. They’re into the third period with Dallas. Dallas is fighting for their place in the last Wild Card spot in the standings. They just lost to Edmonton last night and Vegas is just 2 points behind them. This third period should be spicy.
