Jack Eichel played his first game against his old team tonight and it did not go his way.
The Buffalo Sabres captured their 19th win against the Vegas Golden Knights in a 3-1 final tonight. It was the first time since the Eichel drama that he faced his old team. He ended up going -1 with 17:48 in ice time and 2 shots on goal. The Sabres maintained control for most of this game. They kept a one-goal lead from just 7 minutes into this game until Vegas tied things up with a goal from Ben Hutton 12:01 into the third period.
The Sabres gave them no room to bounce back. Victor Olofsson and Alex Tuch, who was part of the Eichel trade, collected two additional goals to win this game 3-1 for Buffalo. It was a rough game for the Golden Knights but good on the Sabers for getting one step closer to their 20th win this season.
I thought Eichel might have had a more booming start considering he has 7 points (3G 7A) in his first 10 games with Vegas. But his old team won it out. The Sabres will be looking for their 20th win against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday night. Maybe Eichel will find some luck against that team.
