Flames Shutout Senators In Sunday Showdown

Elias Lindholm keeps his stellar season rolling in the Flames win over the Senators today. The Flames shut out the Senators while scoring 4 goals of their own in the first Tkachuk Bros Faceoff of the season.

It started with Andrew Mangiapane scooping his 10th goal of the season in the final 4 minutes of the first period. This is the 25-year-old’s 15th game of the season and he’s already got 12 points, that’s third on this Flames team. Sean Monahan was the one to take the shot but Mangiapane got it to the back of the net.

Then early in the second, Elias Lindholm got his 8th goal of the season to give the Flames a 2-0 lead. Rasmus Andersson winds up the shot and Lindholm knows exactly where to put his stick to angle the puck past the goaltender. Check it out:

Lindholm turned around 5 minutes later and got the primary assist on Matthew Tkachuk‘s goal to get this game 3-0. Lindy gets ahold of the puck, sends that pass right to Tkachuk and it worked perfectly.

Nikita Zadorov puts an impressive nail in the coffin 1:56 into the third with the Flames’ 4th and final goal.

The Flames and Sens seem to be building a good rivalry between one another. These games get intense and the goals are sick. After the final buzzer, some of the guys threw hands. They’re building up a new rivalry that’s getting fun to watch. Sadly they only play one another once more this regular season in January. That’s so little compared to last season, we’ll have to make these ones last.

The Flames’ top guys really got to work out there tonight as they have been all season. Lindholm overtook Johnny Gaudreau for team points leader with his 15th and 16th points in 15 games. Magiapane has been non-stop with the goals too, he leads the team in those with a total of 10 so far. Lindholm isn’t far back with 8 of his own. Not to mention Dan Vladar got his first career shutout tonight and advanced his record to 3-0-1 on the season. The team now sits 2nd in the Pacific behind Edmonton with a 8-3-4 record. They’ll head out to Philly to play the Flyers on Tuesday.
