Carter Hart Kicks Ass Again In Flyers Win Over Carolina

Talk about a confidence booster. I just talked in my blog yesterday about how the Flyers needed something to boost their mentality. And I think this win will be it. Let’s review:

The first period was all Carter Hart (again). He had 13 saves over those 20 minutes, meanwhile, the skaters were a mess. Philly had 4 powerplay opportunities in the first period alone and it was abysmal, as it has been. But Carter Hart has been on fire and he baled them out of this first period. Check out his saves in the dying seconds.

The second period was more the same. The Hurricanes scored a goal a little over halfway into the period to take the lead. They would score another but that was determined offsides so we luckily left the period down by just 1 goal. Carter stopped another 15 of 16 shots.

The third period is where things get good. I would like to point out that I switched into my “I Don’t Fuck With That Shit” Wade Allison Shirt, which the Flyers are like 6-1 when I wear it, so bonus point The Shirt. Anyway – Joel Farabee finally broke his 8 game point drought with a sick little goal just 4 minutes into the period.

Getting Farabee going again is massive to the Flyers’ success, as I said yesterday. The kid has been struggling so seeing him so excited to score again was awesome.

Big boy Zack MacEwen scored his first goal as a Flyer 6 minutes after that and gave them the lead with just under 10 left in the game.

Massive win for the Flyers here. Like I’ve been talking about, mentality matters. The first two periods were rough, the Flyers didn’t look like the team they were a few games ago. There was no flow, minimal energy. They were stuck in that proverbial mud. But Carter kept them in this, Joel snapped his drought, and they beat one of the best teams in the NHL. Great note to end on especially if Kevin Hayes is coming back within the next 3 games. I think Martin Jones will be in net tomorrow night against the Stars. Jones has started 3 games this season, won all 3, posted a .950 save percentage and a 1.67 GAA. I believe in him and Carter needs the rest so let’s keep this train going through Dallas. They needed this win and I’m excited to see how tomorrow goes.

  1. I think Carter was phenomenal, and I think that it’s early enough in the season and facing a pitiful Dallas team @ 1-3 -1 at home, that the Flyers should consider playing cater to see his ability to handle to road and more playing time. It might do him world of good W or L…. We are trying to build a “Workhorse” for the future!
