Zach Fucale just did something amazing. The 26-year-old goaltender made his NHL debut tonight but that’s not all, he got his first win after posting a 21-save shutout against the Detroit Red Wings.
Fucale is the first goaltender in Caps history and the first NHL goalie since 2015 to post a shutout in their first NHL game. What an amazing feat and the bonus? His parents were there to see it:
According to Fucale’s stats, he’s bounced around these past few years. From the AHL to the ECHL and back-and-forth again. Before getting called up, he played 5 games with the AHL’s Hershey Bears. He had a 3-0-2 record, a .933 save percentage, and 1.73 GAA. Fucale deserves a win like this. He did awesome tonight and I hope he gets some more starts. Now enjoy the team celebration:
