I Have Almost No Optimism for the Hawks Right Now

I know it’s just 3 games in but my optimism is out the window. Hawks fell 5-2 to the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight which has left their record 0-2-1 in the first 3 games of the season. Sure it’s early but this game was a disaster. The Penguins made it 4-0 in the first 11:25 of the game. The Penguins’ first goal came 15 seconds in. That happened yesterday when the Hawks played the Devils with Kevin Lankinen in net, then today it happened again but Marc-Andre Fleury was our goaltender tonight. Fleury was pulled after the Penguins scored those 4 goals on just 10 shots. This loss wasn’t all on him. Overall this Hawks team looks uninspired, messy, and, in general, just sad. The defense is a shitshow and my only gold point so far has been how kick ass Kirby Dach has been playing.

It’s 3 games in and the Hawks have 13 goals against and just 7 goals for. They’re not controlling the puck, they’re not playing defense. It’s abismal. Something has got to change and I’m not talking about this roster (for now). The roster went through a lot of changes this summer but something has to shift behind the scenes if Chicago wants success.

I wanted to be optimistic about the Hawks once this season started but honestly I’m not in the slightest right now. It’s gonna be a long season. #FireStan
