Honestly, you love to see it. Brian Boyle, who just signed with Pittsburgh this morning, has scored for the Penguins. This is Boyle’s first NHL (regular season) goal since January 16th, 2020, when he was with the Florida Panthers.
After 13 NHL seasons, he couldn’t get signed anywhere after the 2019-2020 season. He had played 805 NHL games across 7 NHL teams and totaled 231 points (130G 101A). He was always a great guy who had to battle through so much just to keep his career. It was sad to see him not play last year. So he went over to the World Championships, captained Team USA over there, put up 3 points (2G 1A) in 10 games, and went home with a bronze medal. Not to bad of a year and it proved he still had what it takes to play at a high level.
So Pittsburgh offers him the PTO, he kills it and they sign him about 11 hours ago. Flashforward, game 1 of the regular season and he’s out there securing the Penguins’ lead against the reigning Stanley Cup Champions. No one deserves that more than Brian Boyle, the man has been through hell and back and I hope he absolutely lights it up this season in Pitt.
