Boulier Goes To Boston

In a shocking turn of events today, Amanda Boulier is leaving the Minnesota Whitecaps for the Boston Pride. As a Whitecaps fan I am so sad about this. Boulier is an incredible defender. She missed out on the “Bubble” at Lake Placid last year but played in the Isobel Cup Final against the Boston Pride. Before that she spent 2 seasons as a leader with the Whitecaps.

In her first 3 (technically 4) seasons with the PHF (previously NWHL), Boulier has played in 50 regular season games with 48 points (14G 34A), .96 Points Per Game average, just 26 PIMs, and a +20 rating. In the playoffs, she has 5 games under her belt with 2 points (1G 1A), a .4 PPG average, 4 PIMS, and a +1 rating. She also has one Isobel Cup Title to her name which she won with the Whitecaps in 2019.

Boulier is a responsible defender that is a massive benefit to any roster. She’s a phenomenal skater who carries the puck well. The Pride were close to unstoppable these last 2 seasons and they’re only going to get better with Boulier on their lineup. Which is why this absolutely blows for the Whitecaps. Boulier was a massive part of their defense and losing her is going to sting. I spent 95% of last preseason hyping her up and then she wasn’t in the “Bubble”. And although the Whitecaps still played well enough to make it to the Isobel Cup Final, Boulier’s absence was still felt on the ice.

I’m sad that we lost a player and leader like her but I still have full faith in this Whitecaps team to kick ass this season. Will I be upset when these two play one another? Sure, but that’s nothing that a Whitecaps W can’t fix.
