Absolutely no shock about this one. The second Gary Bettman said “yeah, we can have helmet ads”, I knew it was going to be a matter of time before ads ended up on jerseys. You think Gary would pass up that deal? Nah.
Now at least the ads will only be 3-by-3.5-inch, it won’t be a massive amount of space. However this is a slippery slope. Should things go well with this then I bet you they will find places to sneak a few more. Sure, you’ll stop noticing it after a while but I just don’t want NHL jerseys to become like some of the Euro ones.

I can barely tell you what their logos are supposed to be because there is so much to look at. My little pea brain can’t pick what to focus on. They’re just ridiculous.
Alas, we are far from that point so I’m not going to freak out about a little ad like this one – basically every pro leagues got them now because ya know capitalism – but I don’t want the jerseys to becomes so god damn ugly and unwearable. The league has got to make back the money they lost with the pandemic in order to grow and keep things status quo. They’ll do just that with the new ads and the new team coming in but I’d be a liar if I didn’t say I was weary about what this could grow into.
