The Chicago Blackhawks have signed Alex Nylander to a one-year contract with a $874,125 AAV.
Nylander did not play at all last season because he was dealing with a meniscus tear in his left knee so this upcoming season will be his second in Chicago. His first season with the Hawks was 2019-2020, he played in 65 games and had 26 points (10G 16A). He was averaging 12:08 per game, had 25 takeaways and 23 giveaways. He carried a Corsi For of 51.7%. In the playoffs he saw 8 games with no points but an average of 10:48 and a Corsi For of 45.7%.
I’m not going to sit here and act like it’s the end of the world like some people were on Twitter. He’s got his faults as a player but he’s still a guy that can stick into this lineup. I was behind him when he came to Chicago and I still will be. He’s only 23 and he’s played on some dogshit teams so he’s had a rough time developing into the player everyone thought he would. Not to mention the last time we even saw him play was well over a year ago. Give him this season, fresh off surgery, and a small AAV and see if he’s figured it out. The Hawks will be better this season compared to 2020 and this could be a time for Nylander to shine.
Take a fuckin edible and chill out, this isn’t the end of the world. I hope Nylander kicks ass this season. If he could just hone into that fine in his skates he gets sometimes, he’d be a great player. So chill out and let’s countdown to some hockey.
