I think if you told me in January that the Montreal Canadiens would be facing the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Stanley Cup Final, I wouldn’t have believed you.
Last night, Tampa defeated the Islanders in a rather boring Game 7. The final score was 1-0 and that lonely goal was a shorty from Yanni Gourde. I was still pulling for the Islanders going into it but they put up a hell of a fight this playoffs.
Now we gotta wait until Monday night when Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final is set to go down. I think it goes without saying that if you know me, you know I am all in on the Canadiens. Tampa killed my Dallas Stars last year in the Bubble Stanley Cup Final therefore I want them to lose.
The Canadiens have come up as the lovable underdogs in these playoffs so I want them to take this all the way. Imagine the story, down 3-1 against the Maple Leafs and then bam, Stanley Cup Champs. That would be fantastic. I still think they stand a chance against Tampa but I am anxious to see how they’ll play on Monday night. From now on put me in that bleu, blanc, et rouge like I am 18 all over again. Go Habs go, let’s play Celine.
