PUT THE VOLUME TO 100 IT IS TIME FOR CELEBRATORY CELINE!
Those crazy kids, they really did it. Tonight, the Montreal Canadiens eliminated the Vegas Golden Knights from the playoffs. The underdogs have added even more to this wild story. I am still reeling.
The Canadiens had all the energy to start this game. They came out of the gate flying. Habs’ captain Shea Weber scored the opening goal 14:06 into the game wile on the power play. That lead was short lived because Reilly Smith got it tied just 48 seconds later.
But fear not because the Canadien’s superstar rookie Cole Caufield swooped in with this absolutely sick goal in the 2nd period to give the Habs a 2-1 lead.
If the Habs win the Cup, I’m getting a Caufield jersey, mark my words. I might get one tonight. This kid has made my year. He won the gold back in January, he kicked ass at Wisconsin, and now he’s boosting this team to the Stanley Cup Finals.
Anyway, the Canadiens kept that lead going into the 3rd but Vegas, ever the dramatic team, tied things up again just 1:08 into the final frame. No one could break that tie so into OT we went.
Then, sweet angel, saving grave Artturi Lehkonen ended the Vegas Golden Knights season just 1:39 into OT. My video stream froze so I ended up listening to the French call. I don’t know a lot of french but holy shit was that an electric call to listen to. The Montreal Canadiens are going to the Stanley Cup Finals.
I loved the start this team had, it’s exactly what they needed. They didn’t hesitate to go out and take control, it was great. Carey Price was absolutely insane, per usual. He still blows me away even after all these years. He really kept his team in it. The team rallied around him and pulled out this series win.
Awesome game by the Habs. They’ll have to wait and see who will win tomorrow night to know who their opposition will be. I’ve been pulling for the Islanders, still am, but regardless of who wins tomorrow — I’m 100% on the Habs’ train. I want this team to go all the way. At this point, I think they can fucking do it.
