Another playoff game, another overtime. The Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights took their Game 5 into OT. The Golden Knights ended up taking a quick win and the series lead. Vegas now leads the Avs 3-2 in the series.
This game was stressful. The Avs fell behind during the last 2 games against Vegas. They went from up 2-0 in this series to tied 2-2. Now, in front of their hometown crowd, the Avs were excited to get the comeback. The started with a sick final seconds goal in the first from Brandon Saad. It was one of those “how the fuck did that go in?” ones, right over Fleury’s shoulder. Should have been an easy catch but hey, I’ll gladly take a lead headed into the second period.
The Avs grabbed another in the 2nd to put up a 2-0 lead. Joonas Donskoi snagged a goal at 16:28 in the period.
Now this is where everything falls apart for Colorado. All game they kept up well with Vegas, they were hitting them big, keeping on them. Just what they needed the last 2 games they lost. But the small mistakes and horrible turnovers cost them big time. Alex Tuch got Vegas on the board at 1:03 into the 3rd. Then Jonathan Marchessault got them even at 4:07. Neither sides could get anything done in the rest of regulation. In OT, Mark Stone grabs a rebound from Ryan Graves and gets the break away, ends this game just 50 seconds in.
I don’t know what has happened but this Avs team seems distant now. They went from 6-0 in their whole playoffs to meek and messy. There were flashes of the confident, resilient Avalanche tonight but they just couldn’t pull it together in time. Well now it’s do or die. Thursday night they will be back in Vegas for that Game 6 and they have to pull it out. I still think this is an Avalanche team that can win the Cup. So they’ve had a little adversity, now it’s time to take the series back. Scrape off all the shit from the past 3 games, get back on top, and pull this series out.
I’ve changed my tune writing this blog because when I started I wanted to bang my head against my desk but things are different now. Fuck the Knights, we still have time on the clock so it’s time to go out there and get the win. This wasn’t the nail in the coffin, there is till time to break out and fight back. We need that top line buzzin, getting the boys going, and we’ll be all dandy come Thursday night.
The life lesson I have learned from the Chicago Cubs is it ain’t over till it’s over. This series ain’t done yet and I am not giving up on my boys. So tomorrow, take a breath, then Thursday, come out and kick some ass. I’ll be ready to go to absolute war.

Yeah this series “IS OVER BABY” wHAT happened to this AVS team they have run into not just a good hockey team but honestly the greatest hockey team in the NHL. Avs got a tired Knights team for the first 2 games. But now the true colors of the next Stanley Cup winners are on display.
IF THE KNIGHTS PLAY 60 MINUTES OF DEFENSE, NO ONE HAS BEAT THEM THIS YEAR!
