I made the mistake of being social yesterday so I ended up missing the Avs murder the Blues 5-1 in Game 3 of their series. With that I also missed Alex Newhook‘s first NHL goal!
First NHL goals are great but the celly is even better.
20-year-old Newhook played in 6 regular season games with the Avs and he collected 3 assists. Now into his 3rd playoff game with the club, he has his first playoff point from his first goal in the National Hockey League. Newhook made his debut with the Avalanche after a stellar start with the Colorado Eagles, the Avs’ AHL team. He played in just 8 games but he had 9 points (5G 4A). He also won silver with team Canada at the World Juniors this year.
The Avs are one victory away from sweeping the St. Louis Blues so I cannot wait for this next game. Win or lose, the Avs are fun as hell to watch. They had 5 goals last game and none of them even came from their top guys. Up and down the board, these guys can really play. Not to mention, they’re all buddies and you can tell how much they want to win for each other. Their next one is Sunday, May 23rd, and it will be must watch.
So congrats Newy, happy birthday Ryan, and go Avs go!
