Bad night to be a Bruin. In Chara’s return to Boston, the Washington Capitals managed to score 8 goals on the Bruins. The Caps saw those 8 goals come from 5 different goal scorers. TJ Oshie, Lars Eller, and Conor Sheary all had 2 goals each then the remaining 2 came from Nic Dowd and Tom Wilson.
Before the goals even started, this game began with a bang. Right off the opening faceoff, Chris Wagner and Brenden Dillon threw down the gloves.
8 goals is a lot so I’ll hit you with my favorite of each period. First, Conor Sheary’s snipe that came off a beautiful pass to give the Caps a 3-0 lead just half way through the first.
Next up in the second period for the 5-0 lead, this Nic Dowd shot was magical. His reaction was also phenomenal.
And last but not least, Oshie’s 2nd of the game for a 7-1 lead with the redirect right in front of the net.
Big win for the Caps, but a tougher loss for Boston heading into the trade deadline tomorrow. They weren’t shutout at least, they got 1 on the board but it’s been another rough game in a string of them. Now is the time to have your shit figured out moving into the final playoff push and the Bruins haven’t really had it together these past few weeks. I think they’ll be interesting to watch moving forward, especially tomorrow. Regardless, fun game of hockey tonight.
