Friday Night Hockey Is Here Baby

Cheeeeers to the freakin weekend. Friday night freedom is ringing in and there are just 5 NHL games so let’s have a good one. Two games started at 7PM CT, then we’ll have two at 8PM CT, and one at 9PM CT. Here is how I think the night is going to go down:

At 7PM we got the Vegas Golden Knights and the St. Louis Blues. I don’t watch either of these teams so I can’t evaluate them too much BUT I do hate the Blues so go Knights.

The real show is going to be the Arizona Coyotes vs the Minnesota Wild. The Wild have been an enjoyable hockey team to watch. That Kirill Kaprizov has really added some spice to their game. I feel like every time they play all I see his highlights of him doing something amazing. The rookie has 20 points (7G 13A) in his first 24 NHL games. These two teams have played one another twice this season and each time was a high scoring showdown. I’ll take Minnesota winning this one.

Then at 8PM we have the LA Kings and the Colorado Avalanche. Another evenly split series between these two so it’s bound to be exciting. In their last 10 the Kings are 5-2-3 and the Avs are 5-4-1, meanwhile they’re both on a one game win streak. It’s an evenly matched set for sure but I’ll take the Avs here. They’ve got that insanely deadly top line and although they’re hurting, they’re still a force.

The second game at 8PM is the Ottawa Senators vs the Edmonton Oilers. See I wanna say the Oilers, I really do. But my trust in them is not that high. They’ve been kicking ass, on a 3 game win streak. They’re 7-3-0 in the last 10, McDavid is on one, and they’ve won the last 7 games against the Senators. Nevertheless, they scare me. Sometimes you’ll think they’re set to win and then they just flounder completely. So I wanna say I trust the Oilers but…they’re the Oilers.

Annnd to close out this Friday evening we have the Anaheim Ducks and the San Jose Sharks at 9. The three games these teams have played against one another in the past have been close, one goal games. The Ducks’ offense have been good lately but their record does not reflect that. I think this one will be a close call again AND I think the Ducks will pull this one out.

I love Friday night hockey and we have some decent match-ups here. Now it’s time to crack a beer, watch some hockey, and have ourselves a weekend.
