No shock here that we’re talking about one half of Edmonton’s two headed monster and hat tricks in the same sentence. Leon Draisaitl got his 4th career (3rd in the regular season) hat trick tonight in Edmonton’s 7-1 pounding on the Ottawa Senators. He actually finished with the 3 goals as well as 2 assists for 5 points in a little over 18 minutes of ice time. NBD.
Overall, Edmonton was having a hot night as is when Draisaitl turned on the jets. Leon got goal number one in the first period. His goal set the Oilers up with a nice 3-0 lead late in that period.
His second goal of the game came 7:01 into the 2nd period on the power play. A little snipe from a bit off the net, gooolden.
Last we have this absolute beautttyyy. Look at it.
I know we all joke like “hahaha McJesus!” well I’m not joking anymore, this man has to be akin to some God to have pulled that off so god damn flawlessly. (If you’re my Catholic mother reading this, sorry). Draisaitl too. That telepathy there really came in handy to complete this play. Fantastic.
Draisaitl now sits with 14 goals and 28 assists for 42 points in 28 games. Absolutely fucking bananas. When Edmonton has it together, they’re just a treat to watch. And sure you can cry “no shit it was the Sens!” doesn’t make anything they’re doing out there any less impressive.
