Notre Dame Complete the Sweep With An 8-1 Buckeye Pounding

What a way to finish the sweep. Notre Dame kicked THE Ohio State’s ass last night and they came back this afternoon with a stunning 8-1 W to complete the weekend sweep. Also 8 is my lucky number so I’m taking this as a good omen.

Much like their game yesterday, Notre Dame got to work early. They put up 3 goals in the first period. All 3 goals were on the power play and scored in the last 5 minutes of the period. Then in the 2nd, Notre Dame got another 3 goals — two of which were just 15 seconds apart. Finally in the 3rd, Notre Dame scored 2 more goals with one between them from Ohio.

Overall, awesome game for ND again. Their power play is still buzzing. The Slaggert brothers have their finger prints all over this game. Graham Slaggert had a goal and 2 assists and his brother Landon had 2 assists. Dylan St. Cyr was spectacular in net and he was pulled with about 5 minutes left so Nick Sanford could make his debut with the Irish. The celebration on the ice for Sanford afterwords was heartwarming.

Sanford was also awarded the victory bone. (I’ll omit all of my jokes, this is a family show (or is it?).)

I love this team and the support they’ve given one another. You can tell that they’re close knit and they wanna battle for the guy next to them every night. It makes their games that much better. I hate that we’ll have to wait until Friday to see them play again. Notre Dame will play Minnesota next. Minnesota has been 15-4-0 this season and they’re a powerhouse so ND will have to bring the power once again.
