Turns out some things are too good to be true. We’ve been waiting a long time for this season to come around and now it’s over before we get the ending.
In all honestly, I’m really upset about this. I was looking forward to watching these finals play out. I was excited to see these women play on National Television for the first time. I was so excited for my Whitecaps to win their second Isobel Cup (buzz off, I’m optimistic).
I’m shocked that they actually had to do this but I shouldn’t be with the way things were trending. After what happened with the Rivs, we knew that this wasn’t a bubble. There was some way that Lake Placid wasn’t a complete bubble. Then not long after, it took the Whale. There was some kind of leak into the outside world. The NWHL hasn’t been very forthcoming with almost any information but we can all see that there were some things left unplanned that foiled the entire season.
Anyway, hopefully we get some clear answers in the coming days about what happened. There more women’s hockey happening at the end of this month with the PWHPA so at least we have that. For now, I’m gonna go wallow and think about what could have been.
