Another game that was down to the final seconds but in the end, there was just no time for the Whitecaps to save their streak. The Six have ended the Whitecaps 3-0 season start with a 4-3 victory in Game 1 of the Round Robin. This game was very back and forth.
The first period ended with a 1-0 score in favor of the Six. Then the Caps came back and had it tied 2-2 by the end of the 2nd period.
Now by the final minute of the 3rd period, the score was 3-3. I was certain we were going to OT but Mikyla Grant-Mentis pulled out another goal for Toronto and ended it where we stood with just 23 seconds remaining. I was praying for an insane Haley Mack goal and some OT but no dice.
This would have been a big win for the Whitecaps. You want to win these games and get yourself 1st seed. Nevertheless, the Caps were matched well against the Six and I would love to see another one of these games. There’s heat between these teams, we saw players get in each other’s faces a few times. I’m sad that our undefeated season has come to an end but hot damn I would love to see another game between these two. Perhaps we will, time will tell though. The Whitecaps will play the Whale on Monday for their second game of the Round Robin. Whale have been a hot ticket lately so let’s see how this one goes.
Roooooooooll CAPS!
