The Beauts’ rookie goaltender Carly Jackson has secured her first NWHL win against the Boston Pride. In the NWHL’s first game back since taking a small break after the Riveters’ COVID departure, the Beauts took Game 1 in their Best-of-3 series against the Boston Pride. The Pride have had it rough to start this season and the Beauts were without a win. Taking that first win is always crucial especially here.
I’ve loved how Carly Jackson has played to start her NWHL career. She’s played 4 games for the Beauts and put up a 1-2-1 record. That’s a collective 248:10 minutes with a .940 save percentage and 2.42 Goals against average. Of the 10 goals that gave been scored against her, those have come from the 168 shots she’s faced. I was so excited to see Jackson out there this season and she has not disappointed one bit. If the Beauts kicked up their offense a bit more, they could be a powerhouse team with Jackson in net.
This first W of the 3 game series for the 4th seed is massive. They’ve got some momentum going and they’re in the Pride’s head. I just talked about how down the Pride have been this season and with an L in the Best-of-3, that’s definitely gonna be hard for them to come back from.
These two will play again tomorrow and if the Beauts win that game again, they will be the 4th seed and play the First Seed team (TBD) on Thursday in the Semifinals. But should the Pride magically pull out a win here, the two will play again on Monday to see who gets that 4th seed. I think the Beauts have played well despite just getting their first win. I’ll be rooting for them tomorrow.
