When In Doubt, Trust Joe Pavelski

2 games. 7 Points. 1 Name. Joe Pavelski.

The Stars season just started this weekend and they’ve been red hot. Across 2 games, they’ve had 10 goals for and just 2 goals against. 3 of those goals for have come from veteran Joe Pavelski.

In Friday’s game, Pavelski played 19:39 and had 2 goals (both power play) and 2 assists. The Stars won 7-0.

In tonight’s game, Pavelski played 20:24 and had 1 goal (once again on the power play) and 2 assists. The Stars won 3-2.

Combined, that’s 7 points in 40:03 minutes played across just 2 games. Can you imagine where he’s gonna be when the Stars catch up to the other teams who have played 5 or 6 games? He’s already 19th in NHL points although everyone above him has already played 5, 6, or 7 games.

The Stars don’t win these crucial first games without Joe Pavelski in there. They’re without so many of their leaders in the room (Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin, Ben Bishop, Blake Comeau) because of injury so having a veteran like Pavelski in the room is making those losses less harsh. Both for the guys on the ice and for fan like me who were stressed about this team. This has been an amazing start to Pavelski’s season as well as the Stars’ and I can’t wait for him to keep it going. Although knowing Dallas, find a witch doctor to keep him healthy.
