ROLL. CAPS. BABY! The Minnesota Whitecaps have won their first game of the season as they took out the Boston Pride in the 2020 Canceled Isobel Cup Rematch. I was sadly not home to watch the full game (don’t worry, I was sneakily watching it on my phone). This game lived up to the hype I was hoping for.
Sure, Boston got on the board first with a goal from Christina Putigna but the Whitecaps were not far behind. Jonna Curtis got the game even with Minnesota’s first goal about a minute later. Winny Brodt-Brown, Captain of the Whitecaps scooped the GWG 11:59 into the 2nd period. Audrea Richards registered an assist on both goals as well. From start to finish, this game was the goalie battle I knew this was going to be.
If the Whitecaps had anyone else in net, they would have been screwed. Amanda Leveille stood on her head once again to stop 37 of 38 shots on net! Insane! She was rightfully given the 1st Star of the Game. Without her, maybe 2 or 3 of those shots get through and the Caps lose this game. If they’re serious about another Cup run, we’re going to need to wrap Amanda in bubble wrap to avoid any injury at all.
The Caps play again tomorrow and I can’t wait to watch the bring it all over again. Let’s get all line goin’ and just light up the Toronto Six at 12 PM CT. Get on the wagon babes, we’re chuggin all the way to the Finals! (Note to self: buy victory beers).
