Today, Let’s Remember Heath Ledger

This tweet has been going around Twitter all day and the one person who keeps coming to mind for me is Heath Ledger. I was only 8 when he died so I didn’t understand the gravity of the situation, I only really knew him as the Joker. But now that I’m 21 and I’ve learned so much about him after the fact, I get real sad about his death.

Personally, as an LGBT+, watching him in the movie ‘Brokeback Mountain’ (2005) changed my life, it’s one of my favorite movies of all time. In 2005, the world was a very different place, especially for the LGBT+ and having stars like Heath and Gyllenhaal take on roles helped change so many lives and minds. He just seemed like an overall amazing human being and he genuinely cared about people. I sadly have not see the whole ‘I Am Heath Ledger’ documentary but this 13-minute trailer of it shows just how great and dedicated he was.

Anyway, I’m going to go cry while re-watching Brokeback Mountain and the Patriot. RIP Heath.
