Henrik Lundqvist just announced that he will be sitting out this upcoming season due to a heart condition. The 38-year-old goaltender would have been spending his first season with the Capitals after 15 seasons with the Rangers. In 887 NHL Game starts, the King had a 459-310-96 record, .918 SV%, and a 2.43 GAA.
When it comes to your heart, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Henrik said that he’s taking some time away to spend with his family as well, all of that makes sense. I wish him all the best and I hope he can be back out on the ice one day. Going through the constant heart testing and all that unknowing is a very stressful thing, I went through that when I was 18. Hopefully this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Henrik Lundqvist.
