You know when you score 4 goals in the first period, you’re in for a good night. That’s what happened for the North Dakota Fighting Hawks tonight as they absolutely smashed Western Michigan’s team, 8-2. The Fighting Hawks were unanswered for their first 7 goals (36 minutes), then WM got on the board late in the 2nd to break the shutout.
Shane Pinto, a sophomore with UND, had a pair of goals that came back to back at the end of the first period. He also had an assist. Grant Mismash, a senior with UND, also had a pair of goals in the night, one in the first period and the other in the third.
We knew North Dakota were not gonna fuck around in this game but they really were ablaze tonight. UND will be losing Tyler Kleven, who had a goal tonight, to Team USA for their Junior camp but they should fair just fine without him. They’re 3-0-0 headed into a game against Denver, who they just beat 2 days ago, so I expect the same results. Maybe the scoring won’t be as high but you bet your ass it’ll be skill-filled and entertaining. That’s all we can ask for in these ‘Rona times.
