I know it’s 2PM on a Monday but pop the champagne! Probably the smartest move the Blackhawks could have made, hiring Kendall Coyne Schofield as a player development coach and youth hockey specialist. Kendall is incredibly qualified for these roles.
As a player development coach, Kendall is going to be assisting the Rockford IceHogs in the development of their players and the scouting of new ones. Kendall is one of the smartest hockey players this generation has seen, she’s going to be a great asset for the IceHogs in this role. She will also be the first women to every be a Players Development Coach.
As a youth hockey specialist, she’ll continue her work with the Blackhawks to grow the game across Chicago and the surrounding communities. Kendall is a key player when it comes to growing the game. She’s a huge part of the PWHPA and a phenomenal ambassador for the women’s game. She puts her heart and soul into growing the game for kids of all ages, genders, ethnicity, and income classes. She is going to help grow the game so much further in her new role.
Fantastic move by the Hawks, they’re really great already about growing the game at the grassroots levels and by getting Kendall involved even further, great things are gonna happen. Congrats Kendall!
