Day ?? of being a Michigan fan and oh boy am I excited for more Kent Johnson. This 18-year-old freshman centre at Michigan has 7 points (1G 6A) in 4 games. He put up 4 assists in the season opener, then a goal in the next game, and 1 assist in both the last 2 games.Last season when he played in the BCHL for the Trail Smoke Eaters, he had 101 points (41G 60A) in just 52 games. He’s got amazing speed and a great hockey IQ. I seriously can’t wait to watch this kid play more. Now mix in his start to the season with the stacked cast of teammates he has along side him and that’s a beautiful recipe for success.
As a whole, Michigan’s team is a fun one to watch. They’re creative with the puck and relentless. I remember when I was watching their second game of the season, I was thinking “holy shit, is this what it’s like to love a team you trust?” I’m notably a Stars and Blackhawks fan, both teams that have wavering offense at best, but with Michigan, I don’t have to worry about them getting the puck on net. They’ll do that. Not to mention, their defense actually, ya know, defends.
Overall, since I became a fan of the team, Michigan is 4-0 so not to gloat but my God complex is a little heightened today. Notre Dame strolls into Ann Arbor to play Michigan on Friday and Saturday night. Notre Dame has only played 2 games this season and they lost both of them to Wisconsin. The Irish were rusty after 8 months off and then they immediately had another week off. Michigan is gonna steamroll Notre Dame, there is no question in my mind about that. Friday’s game is at 6PM CT and if anyone knows how I can stream this one please let me know.
