St. Cloud State Won’t Play On Friday Because of COVID

St. Cloud State will not be playing this Friday (November 20th) in the NCAA Women’s Hockey opening weekend because of COVID. Eight members of the program have tested positive in the last 9 days therefor, the school is closing down the program for at least 14 days so everyone can quarantine.

“I share the disappointment being felt by the student-athletes and coaches at both St. Cloud State and Bemidji State. The first priority of the WCHA and our member institutions has always been the health and well-being of everyone associated with our seven programs. St. Cloud State continues to follow local, state, NCAA and WCHA guidelines regarding COVID-19 testing and tracking and we hope to see them back on the ice soon.”

WCHA Women’s League Commissioner Jennifer Flowers (x)

It sucks that both teams will miss out on playtime. Bemdji, who St. Cloud was supposed to play on Friday, will not play until December 4th and 5th against Minnesota State. That sucks! They’re probably ready to start their season and now they have to wait almost another month. In all of this, people’s safety and health comes first so hopefully everyone comes out of this healthy. We still have 5 other NCAA women’s games Friday so let’s hope everyone stays healthy in that time.
