UNH (New Hampshire) just named their captain and assistant captains for the 2020-21 season and in a turn of events, they’ve named goaltender Ava Boutilier as their captain. Boutilier is a redshirt junior at UNH with plenty of accolades in her name already. In the 2019-20 season, she had a 13-9-2 record with a .942 save percentage and 1.75 GAA. She’s top 6 goalie in Canada, national recognition here in America, Overall fantastic goalie. She’s so deserving of the captain title and to see it be a goalie is awesome. It’s rare to see a goalie captain so it really stuck out to me but you need someone who can keep their cool in net and leading your team so she’s perfect for the job. Wouldn’t be surprised in the least to see her go pro after college.
Her ‘A’s will be Lauren Martin and Maddie Truax for the season. The UNH Wildcats starts their season November 20th with their opening game against Boston College, a pretty prestige hockey school. The Wildcats are gonna need a level headed player both at the helm and in net so Boutilier will be perfect for that.
Congrats Ava Boutilier on your new captaincy!
