Ranger fans have lost their “Captain” Henrik Lunqvist and now it seems like the hits don’t stop coming. Today, the Rangers have signed Kevin Rooney (C, RW), Colin Blackwell (C), and Keith Kinkaid (G) and the icing on the cake is they just added Jack Johnson (D).
Firstly, to replace Henrik you get Keith Kinkaid. This year he had 6 games played with a 1-1-3 record, a .875 SV%, and a 4.24 GAA. OOF
Okay, maybe the new forwards have a little something? Today, they signed Colin Blackwell and Kevin Rooney. Blackwell is coming from Nashville with 27 games played last season and 10 points (3G 7A). Kevin Rooney played 49 games with the Devils with a mere 9 points (4G 5A). Okay, not great pick ups but hey they’re somethin’ right?
Well, def- Yeah no, I’ll stop there. Jack Johnson.
Yeah, bad idea here boys. I’ve time and time again tried to give Johnson the benefit of the doubt but I can’t anymore. Don’t tank your defense here. I know most people don’t give a shit about +/-, but when you’re at -114 in 937 NHL games, it’s a tough look. He was bought out (on his second run with the team) for a reason.
I don’t want to say that the Rangers have been “productive” because that would imply that it’s been positive moved and let’s look at the number here- it hasn’t. Rest in Peace Ranger fans. You’ve pretty much watched your whole organization shatter into pieces for the 2nd time in 10 years and boy do I pity you.
