Justin Williams is Officially Hanging Up the Skates After 19 NHL Seasons

Justin Williams– 3-time Stanley Cup champion, Mr. Game Seven, 2014 Conn Smythe winner- has announced that he is hanging up the skates for good this year. Williams has played in 1,264 NHL games with 320 goals and 447 assists for 797 points. He also played in 162 playoff games with 41 goals (8 of which were GWGs) and 61 assists for 102 points – once again, 3 Stanley Cups.

The guy has had an extensive career. He’s always been one of those guys you’d love to have on your team and in your locker room – joyful, motivating, and an overall stellar leader. Williams was a thoughtful guy during his career. Last year he stepped away from the game for a while when his drive and future became unclear to him, it takes a lot of courage to do that. He wasn’t sure where he stood and instead of suffering through that, he spoke up and took the time he needed away.

The guy was an absolute joy in the league and I know Canes fans (and players) will miss having him around. Congrats on a kick ass career Justin Williams!
