Worst Day As a Hockey Fan To Not Have Power

There are two times in my life that a storm has knocked the power out at my house.

June 24th, 2013.

The Chicago Blackhawks won their 2nd Stanley Cup with two goals that came within 17 seconds of one another. We had to listen to the end of the game in our old minivan and that power didn’t come back until about noon the next day.

August 11th, 2020

Of course, OF COURSE, yesterday a tree fell in our yard and collapsed the power lines so it’s been over 24-hours without power. Yet, the Universe decided that today, the Columbus Blue Jackets and Tampa Bay Lightning would go into a QUADRUPLE OVERTIME. Game 1 of a rematch that ender in disaster last season. Seriously, I don’t know what the hell did to piss off the Hockey Gods but I’d like to protest it because I don’t deserve missing that shit. Tampa and Columbus played so long that the NHL had to push the Bruins vs Hurricanes Game 1 to tomorrow morning. In the end, Columbus had 88 shots on net while the Lightning had 63 shots on net. Brayden Point was the one to end it.

Pure. Insanity.

Forever will be salty that I missed this one. Add onto that that the Stars played (they lost) and the Blackhawks are fighting in Game 1 now. At least we’ve got a generator now so I’m watching the Hawks vs Vegas Game 1. It’s a rough start for the Hawks right now. They’re gown 4-1 in the 3rd but there is still time. Give the Hawks that time, they’ll get it together. I hope the same goes for ComEd and this tree debacle.
